Club Penguin To Add Russian Language

Based on Club Penguin adding some Russian text to their files it appears the team is working on translating the game to another language! The last time Club Penguin released a new language was a few years ago, back in 2011.

Last month Noe231 found the following picture from Club Penguin’s main configuration file. It is a Club Penguin member badge in Russian saying клуб, which is the Russian word for “club”.

Saraapril posted last night that the Welcome Mat furniture item now has Russian text too. When Saraapril posted it used to say “добро пожаловать” (“welcome”) but now it says “привет” which is Russian for “hello”. This might be because “welcome” in Russian is too long to fit. Back when Club Penguin was working on the game in German the German word for welcome first appeared on the mat, and sure enough the game was released in German at a later date.

Also, Spike Hike posted a picture of him logging into a Russian server:

The image translates to “Logging on Spike Hike”.

Finally, if the Russian language didn’t exist it would say not found instead of forbidden.
This means Club Penguin is currently working on a Russian version of the game. If so this would be their fifth non-English language, with the previous ones being Portuguese, Spanish, French, and German.

Thanks to Trainman1405Saraapril and Noe231.
